Wallet Linking
Technology that connects multiple wallet addresses to identify individual users across sessions
Solves web3's multi-wallet problem by treating related wallets as a single user for attribution and targeting.
Why It's Necessary
Users commonly have multiple wallets for different purposes—hot wallet for daily use, cold wallet for storage, separate wallets for different protocols or chains. Without wallet linking, the same user converting on a different wallet appears as a missed conversion, inflating CAC and undercounting campaign effectiveness.
Traditional Equivalent
In web2, platforms used cookies, device fingerprinting, and login data to track users across sessions and devices. Wallet linking provides similar cross-session identification for web3.
How It Works
Methods vary by platform and are often proprietary. Some use onchain patterns (funding sources, transaction timing, behavioral similarities). Others may combine onchain analysis with device fingerprinting or cookies for more accurate linking.
Impact on Performance
Dramatically improves attribution accuracy by connecting ad exposure on one wallet to conversions on another. Enables more complete user profiles for behavioral onchain targeting. Critical for capturing delayed conversions where users see ads on one wallet but convert later using a different one.
Platform Availability
Available on several advanced platforms, though implementation quality and methodology vary significantly. Essential infrastructure for accurate cross-chain attribution and view through conversion tracking.
